Lucky

Well this is a New Year day I'm going to remember for a long time.  I still can't remember the part before I woke up, lying on my back, with blood oozing out from my head, at the landing of a 12 step flght of stairs.

Back track to New Year's eve.  My husband brought home a $48.00 bottle of French champaigne.  It tasted as good as it cost.  I am 5'3" and 110 lbs.  That went out the window with the champaigne.  Needless to say, I was feeling that alcohol.  I remember going back to bed about 2:00AM.  I got up about 4:00AM reeling with a hangover.  At some point after I left the bathroom I either, tripped, lost my balance, etc.  Anyway I woke up my husband and son with a series of thumping noices down the steps. I came to with my husband inches away from 911 and my son asking me if I was OK.

To the point, I have an inch long gash at the back of my head, and ache from head to toe on one side of my body.  My husband put peroxide on my cut.  Now I'm suddenly a partial blonde. .  Nothing broken,  but I going to see the doctor tomorrow. The scary part, if I didn't hit the edge of the wall before I went down the steps, I would have broken my neck and or killed.

Oh, no! I'm so glad you're going to the doctor. Stairs and falls can be so dangerous. Hope you heal quickly. *hugs*

Ouch! Oh, Rachel, I'm really sorry. What a lousy way to end New Year's Eve!

But yes, I agree that you're very lucky. And so are the rest of us.

I'm still not sure what happened. I just know I feel a heck of lot better then I did yesterday. (See my 2nd post)

I haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you are doing well, teaching and writing. Will you be teaching a mini-semester?

A hell of a way to welcome the New Year
I am so glad you're okay -- you could have killed yourself!!! That damn champagne (but I like the stuff myself, so I can't complain too much). A gash and an unnatural blonde -- ai carumba.

Well, here's a kiss and hug and some hair dye....

Happy New Year, R!

OMG!! I'm so horrified by this story! I'm glad to hear you're okay and that things went well at the doctor's today. Yikes! Lay off the alcohol, sister!! ;-)

Thanks. I usually avoid alcohol because of my size. I just can't take even a little of it. I'm angry at myself, because that wine tasted so darn good.
